I Have Dropped My Pen

I have dropped my pen

As the last teardrop fell

There are feelings we

Feel and should never tell

There are emotions

We should never write in words

We only let them fly

Away like birds

I have dropped my pen

As I spoke my last word

There’ll be no more neglect

No more lines to blur

There are truths that lay

Heavy on our hearts

My lips will be sealed

Forever till we part

I have dropped my pen

As I dropped this case

With all the memories

That only time can erase

There will be silence

There won’t be words

No regrets, and certainly

No more hurt

It’s no use to speak

It only makes me weak

Maybe silence can

Hear all my shrieks

I'm a Lebanese translation and editing professional. I mother two adorable children, a 7-year-old hero on the spectrum and a 2-year-old princess just launched on her terrible two's! Juggling parenthood and a home-based freelance career is no easy task, especially for a (hopefully recovering) perfectionist. This is where all the writing and poetry come to my aid, as a source of inspiration, hope and emotional well-being. Poetry is the spark of creativity that ignites my rather mundane life. Spirituality is what keeps me focused on my purpose.
